Designing a villa in a tropical country like the Dominican Republic requires the designer to evaluate various parameters. Walking through various residential areas I have often seen buildings that, even if well built, have little or nothing to do with the context in which they are located. Generally these homes are the works of designers from Northern Europe and North America who brought back a construction style with sloping roofs, small openings and closed spaces more suitable for climates with harsh winters between snow and rain. Designing a home in the DR means considering that a large part of domestic life also takes place outside. To satisfy these needs, the home must have internal and external spaces communicating through large windows so that the outside can also be part of daily life when desired.
